Hands-on exploration
Ania Kaczor • Gjøvik International School • Norway
For International Play Day, our Grade 1 students participated in a creative and playful learning experience. We created a classroom environment with different materials and stations to encourage imagination and hands-on exploration.
We set up four activity stations where students could freely express their creativity. These included building with wooden blocks and LEGO, a drawing station, and a playdough station. We also provided different fabrics and materials so children could design and create their own ideas.
We created this activity to allow students to learn through play, develop creativity, and work independently as well as with others. It also helped them improve their fine motor skills and problem-solving abilities.
The strongest part of our project was seeing the students’ creativity and engagement. Every child was actively involved, and they enjoyed exploring, building, and creating in their own unique ways.
