Smart Water Tank for Refugee Resettlements.

What did you create?

A low-cost smart water tank system with sensors that monitor water level, quality, and usage in real time. It sends SMS/WhatsApp alerts to community water managers when tanks are low, leaking, or contaminated. No internet needed — uses GSM.

Why did you create it?

In refugee resettlements, water shortages and contamination cause conflict, illness, and long queues. Managers waste hours checking tanks manually and often run out unexpectedly. I created this so communities get water reliably, reduce waste, and respond fast before crisis hits.

What is the strongest part of your project?

*Practicality + community ownership*. It uses cheap, locally available parts + solar power, so it survives power cuts. The SMS alerts are in local languages and go straight to the people already managing water points — no new app to learn. It solves a daily, painful problem with tech that actually fits the context.
